HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NEC/CWC MEETING HELD ON SATURDAY JULY 1ST, 2023 @ THE CIVIC CENTRE, EFON-ALAAYE.
EFON ALAAYE DEVT. LEAGUE (EDL) NATIONAL SECRETARIAT, EFON-ALAAYE.
The constitution of the League provides that NEC shall hold its statutory meetings quarterly while the CWC’s will hold once annually and hence scheduled for every July to make for briefing and taking of inputs from the CWC in the running of the affairs of the League. The 2023 second quarter NEC meeting and 2023 CWC was therefore convened together yesterday July 1st 2023 and held successfully.
NEC briefed the CWC of its set programmes for the year 2023 and the extent so far on the journey by the mid-year. It listed its programmes to include:
i. The League Website development,
ii. The Amphitheatre project completion,
iii. Setting up of the National Secretariat,
iv. The Efon Alaaye Day Celebration re-establishment and
v. The Landscaping project of the Civic Centre Arcade to host the Efon Alaaye Day event.
On the League website development, NEC reported that work is already at very advanced stage and that it would soon be ready for test running in preparation for official launch by August. Members of the website content and development committee includes: Prince Adeyemi-Adejolu, Afolabi Ige, Bose Olubo-Adegeye, Engr. Tope Olowookere, Barr. Dimeji Olakanmi and Adesoji Adeyemi-Adejolu. It was also reported that Mr. Gbenga Waleola of USA made the payment for the hosting of the website for the League.
CWC noted with happiness the development and expressed profound appreciation to everybody connected with the project.
On the Amphitheatre Seat Project, it was reported that the Ajiroba of Efon Kingdom Chief Patrick Ojo has promised to do it for the League but that what is not certain yet is whether it will be ready for commissioning by August. CWC noted the development with delight and pray for the continued blessing and good health of Ajiroba Ojo.
On the Setting Up of the National Secretariat for the League, CWC was briefed that following public solicitation for assistance published by the NEC earlier in the year, Prince Bamidele Olagunju, MD, BATS Oil Services Ltd and a personal friend of the Secretary-General volunteered to foot the bill, fulfilled the promise by March and all the necessary items bought and delivered already at the April Meeting. The office was inspected with delight and profound appreciation for the effort of NEC at breaking the longtime jinx under the incumbent Secretary-General while also praying for the continued blessing of Prince Bamidele Olagunju for his generosity and patriotism.
On the Efon Alaaye Day 2023 Celebration to re-establish the tradition, NEC reported with confidence that planning is already at top gear with programmes already designed, fundraising for the event in good progress, mobilization on-going and set for media publicity soon as posters will start hitting the town as from next week. NEC Enjoined the maximum cooperation of all League branches morally, spiritually, socially and financially for the successful re-launch of the Efon Alaaye Day tradition in August. CWC embraced the challenge warmly and promised to return to bases and mobilized all Efon sons and daughters for the coming Efon Day as enjoined. Goodwill message from Barr. Panaf Olajide Olakanmi the Efon-Alaaye Day 2023 Planning Committee Chairman was delivered by the Secretary-General who also doubles as the Secretary to the Efon Alaaye Day 2023 Planning Committee.
On the Landscaping of the Civic Centre Arena in preparation to hoist the Efon Alaaye Day Event there, NEC reported that it had earlier in the year written to the Local Government Council for assistance on the landscaping and that as tall as the dream may seem with time now far spent, it has not lost hope on the promise of the Council Chairman. Luckily, the Council Chairman Hon. Engr. Bode Adetunji who was specially invited to the meeting but could not attend due to State assignment outside Efon sent the Local Government Supervisor for Works – Hon. Banji Fulani to represent him at the meeting. Hon. Fulani while delivering the goodwill message of the chairman promised on behalf of the Council to break every odd to deliver on the promise of the Chairman on the landscaping project after a joint physical inspection of the area.
The meeting took the opportunity to register its delight at the observed ongoing improvement on the state of the Efon Alaaye township roads by the Efon Local Government and wish the Chairman more strength and wisdom to finish strong and great in the sight of posterity.
The meeting was well attended by members of NEC, members of the CWC, some members of the Efon Alaaye Day Planning Committee and representative of the Efon Local Government Council Chairman.
