Welcome to Efon-Alaaye Development League website

The Efon-Alaaye Development League formerly known as Efon-Alaaye Improvement League from its birth in around 1947 until the early 2000s has come a long way in championing the developmental agenda and pursuits of the Efon-Alaaye Community as the umbrella Socio-cultural and development organization for all Efon-Alaaye indigenes at home and everywhere on the face of the earth.

The Improvement League itself was a metamorphosis and amalgamation of various community spirited elite groups formed in the major cities from the 1930s through to the 1940s. These includes the “Brotherhood of Elites”, “Efon Progressive Union” and others who came together in August of 1947 to form what was named The Efon-Alaaye Improvement League after the “League of Nations” of 1945.

The League since its inception from its first President-General, the Late Pa J. Abidakun Olasope, who was later installed as the first Asiwaju of Efon-Alaaye and its first Secretary-General the Late Pa P. O. Fagbeyiro down to the incumbent President-General – Mr. Titus Olabode Fagbemiro and Mr. Afolabi Ige as the Secretary-General since February 2020 has remained committed to its bid of rallying all Efon-Alaaye indigenes across the globe for the pursuit of accelerated development of the Efon-Alaaye community.

Facilitation of Pipe borne water in Efon-Alaaye as far back as 1953 through diplomatic request for royalty for the use of our river resources by the people of Ilesha District.

Catalyst for the establishment of the first Grammar School in Efon Alaaye by the C.A.C mission in 1960.

The Resistance to the Subjugation of Efon under Aramoko in the Ekiti West Local Government from 1976.

Resistance against take-over of Efon-Alaaye land by Ido-Ajinnare at Odogbo.
Mobilization of Finances towards Community Development Projects
Catalyst for the creation of the First General Hospital in Efon by the Catholic mission.
Spearheaded the construction of the Old Efon-Alaaye Town hall through Community Effort.
Spearheaded the Granting of Autonomous Area Authority Status with independent Vehicle Registration (OD-Y) by the then Ondo State Government in 1983.
Constant mediation and conciliation to maintain peace, unity and order in the community.

Decades of struggle for the eventual creation of the Efon Local Government in 1996.
Creation of the Carnival-like Efon-Alaaye Day celebration as an Annual Event to rally indigenes for development missions.
Construction of a modern Efon Alaaye Civic Centre at Ita-Odo, Efon-Alaaye
Constant Intervention for Internal Self-help security measures within Efon Local Government Council.
Constant intervention on several rescue missions on electricity and water supply to Efon-Alaaye.
The list is indeed unending despite the financial status of the League.

We have branches all over Nigeria and the Diaspora. Our membership is open to all indigenes of Efon-Alaaye anywhere on the face of the earth. A chapter consist of minimum of ten people per location. Membership is by subscription and the benefits of our oneness and solidarity has been quite awesome. (See membership page for more details.)

Our Permanent Headquarters and National Secretariat is: The Civic Center, beside Divisional Police headquarters, Ita-Odo, Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State.
