Efon-Alaaye Students’ Union Set To Commemorate International Day of The Girl Child

The Federation of Efon Alaaye Students’ Union has announced that it will hold a virtual chat on Saturday, 11th October 2025, to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child.

In a public release issued on Wednesday evening, the union stated that the meeting will provide an avenue for women and youngsters to gain insights from academics and thought leaders. With attention on the ingenuity of the girl child, vision for education, career, and leadership.

The International Day of the Girl Child is observed on October 11 since the declaration in 2011 by the United Nations. The day is designated to recognise girls’ rights and raise awareness about the challenges they face globally.

The Saturday’s hybrid session, organised by the Efon Local Government Students’ Union, will feature academics, senior schools, and tertiary institution students as speakers and participants.

Professor Adeyinka Falusi, a distinguished scholar and Professor of Haemotology, is billed as one of the speakers at the weekend event. Also in the lineup is the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Science, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Prof. Odunola Oyeronke.

The session, which includes SSS students on-site participation at the CAC Grammar School, Efon Alaaye, will feature Mrs. Peju Babafemi, the Special Adviser on Women Affairs & Social Development, Ekiti State, as co-speaker and moderated by the ace corporate events host, The Versatile Motun.

Ahead of the online chat, the leadership of the union has extended an invitation to parents, teachers, students in and outside Efon-Alaaye, and the general public.

It would be recalled that in August 2025, the Office of the Vice President, Federation of Efon Alaaye Students’ Union, organised a two-day colloquium geared towards discouraging teenage pregnancy and reigniting the passion for education among young girls in Efon Alaaye.

Also, as part of her commitment to giving back to society, Professor Falusi has awarded prizes to the Best Graduating Female Science students across secondary schools in Efon Alaaye over the last decade and years.
